The new pastor brings with him quite a reputation as a pulpit orator and an energetic minister, and his term here promises to be one of success. At Hamline M. E. Syncox, a lad about fourteen years of age, and a carrier of the Washington Republican, in attempting to jump on the through train of cars from Wash- ington, yesterday morning, at the intersection of Cameron and Henry streets, missed his foot- ing, and was thrown against a rock with such force that fears were at the time entertained of his recovery. He is, however, doing well, hay- ing escaped with only @ severe wound of the scalp. Oysters.—Oysters continue to arrive at the dock, and some of them are as good as any brought here during the winter. They seil now, too, at comparatively cheap rates—laree sized single oysters going at $1, and those of medium size at 50 cents per bushel.
