Last evening, & meeting of the Republican General Committee was held at the headquar- ters of the Grant Club, 49 Pennsylvania av- @nue, Major Hall in the char, and Mr. B. Meacs secretary. ‘The Chair stated that the meeting was called | the Third Ward, to determine the manner of selecting dele; Chicago. Mr. W. A. Cook offered a resolution that each ‘ward select four delegates to the National Con- vention, and report their names to the com- mittee, who shall furnish them with certificates of election. After considerable discussion, Major Hall ot- fered @ resolution calling a convention of five delegates from each ward and the city of = for the election of delegates to CAFO. Mr. Cook favored the plan of the wards elect- ing the delegates, and he thought that the plan ot holding meetings in each ward (o select del- egates to a Dnstrict con vention was not as prac- tical as his plan. Major Hall thought that the city should not claim as many delegates as New York State. Maryland avenue, and Sixth street south, were struck out, are based on a misapprehension of the facts. These appropriations were stricken out of the bill by the House in Committee of the Whole some days ago, and they did not come up for action at all yesterday. no effort having been madt to restore them.
