It seems that the party had assembled at the above house with a view of going on an excursion up the | Tiver to witness a fight between two English- men, lately arrived in this country, but owing to some misunderstanding the mill had been postponed. The crowd not liking the disap- potatment, concluded to have it among: themselves, and accordingly the above two were matched They retired toa rear room on the second floor, where they stripped for the encounter, The proprietor of the place acted ax referee, and at ten minutes past eleven the fight commenced. Twenty-three rounds were fought, in which ‘Sullivan’ showed himself the superior,and finally carried off the honors of the championship. Mack got first blood, and Sul- livan first knock down. While both were pounding each other to the best of their ability, an attempt was made to interfere with them, but it was soon stopped by the referee.—N. Y.
