Dr. Hall. ee NatiovaL CaPitaL BvILpING Assocta- TION. —The first meeting for the payment of ues in the abovenamed association was held last night, at 7b Louisiana avenue, and the meeting was well attended, aud ments prompt, J. Russell Barr, President, the chair, B. N. Meeds, Secretary. The object ot this association is to accumu- late a fund to enable the stockholders to build or purchase dwelling-houses,for themselves, or to make such other improvements as they May deem proper. The constitution requires stockbolders to be over 21 years of age, but minors = hold stock throngh trastess. The sbares are limited to two thousand, at $1 per share; but if, after the third payment, that number is not taken, the board of directors sball determine the amount of permium to be psid by new members. The association was started under very favorable auspices, and atter the payment of dues some $600 were sold at a premium of 50 per cent. TB ELEctio: YESTERDAY.—Last nigh every point in the city, where it was possible to gain news from the elections in New York, Massachusetts, and other States, was beset with crowds eager to hear the news, and with the newsboys crying out Extga Star (which was on the street at an early hour) the avenue and other streets looked lively. ‘The STaR office was beset by aneager crowd, and as the dispatches received were speedily posted they were scanned with intense interest by the throng in attendance. RINGTON’s OFFICE OW FIRE.—Some person or persons unknown, kindled a fire this morning aboutten o'clock in the law office of FE. O. Carrington, District Attorney, adjoining the police headquarters, on Louisiana avenue. The fire was kindled in the corner of the room, behind Mr. C’s. desk, and flames would have done much damage had the fire not been aiscovered and extinguished by Detectives Bigiey and Miller before it had gained much headway. The book case under which the fire was built was filled with valuable papers, many of them being letters and other papers used as evidence im the Surrrtt case, and itis supposed that this attempt was to des- troy these papers.
