A resolution to pay a deficiency of $176.47 to the Coramis- sioner of Streets for repairs to Bridge-street bridge was passed. A resolution to pay to Jobn J. McQuillan the sum of $25 for furnin- 4g coffins jor the burial of paupers was laid on the table. By invitation of the Board of Common Coun- cil, the Aldermen repairea to the cbamter of that body to go into joint convention for the election of a Tax Collector tor the years 1360, *61, "62, °63, 64, and "66. Mr. Mathews the re- corder, occupied the chair, and announced the reaciness of the convention to proceed to the business before them. Mr. Edmonston was thereupos put in nomination, and bie election was declared unanimous. Subsequently the Board re-assembled in their hall, when the following resolution, providing for the bond of the Tax Collector for the years nereinbefore mentioned, was offered and adopted Resolved, That the Collector appointed to col- aect tke uncollected taxes for the years Isl, AGI, i562, 1563, IS61, and 1866, be. and he is Mereby required, before ne enters upon the duties of his office, to file with the jerk his bond in the penal sum of $5,100, with security, to be approved by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen, conditioned for tne faithful per- formance cf the duties of bis effice, and for the punctual payment to this Corporation of all moneys that may be collectea by him by airtue of his office: Provided, That if said Col- lector fail te file bond ‘within ten days after the passage of this ordinance, said office shall be considered vacant: And provided fur- dher, That ali resolutions or ordinances. or parts thereof, inconsistent herewith. be, and the same are hereby, repealed.
