If it is a settled conviction that the bonds are to be paid at the fall maturity of twenty years from date, the maiter is settled, for there is no reasonable doubt but that, even with a moderate degree of prosperity, the paper currency will be on & par with gold long before the time for payment of the bonds, the first issue thereot having yet fourteen years to run. Therefore, it is insisted, the present discussion ss to whether the bonis are payable in gold or not leads to no practical good.
