Mr. L has just bad erected on the corner of 9th and E streets, opposite the naval nospital, a very Jarge three-story brick, which is An ornament to that portion of the city. The building front: 25 feeton E street, aud has a depth of 50 feet on Sth street. The ground floor is occupied by Mr. Wood as a wholesale and retatl grocery. ‘(On the second floor there is a large parlor, with dining-room, paatries, kitchen, &c.,and on the the third floor are five large chambers. The house is fitted up with all modern improve. ments, and on the F. street front there is an iron balcony even with the second floor. The cost of the building was about $10,000. and the following-named gentlemen were employed on the same:—Brick work, Peter Little: car- penter’s work, John Little: plastering, Alfred Frazier; pamting, Mr. Kelly, and roofing, Mr. Carroll. DesrERaTE CHARACTBRS.—Last evening as detective officer McDevitt and officers Roth and Leach, of the Metropolitan force, were passing the house on C street, between 12th and 13th streets, known as “Big Mollie's,” they heard a fracas going on, and entering, found the women of the house drank and fight- ing each other, making night hideous. Te officers arrested Big Mollie.” alias Mollie Jobnson. and Lizzie Smith, and took them to the Second Ward Station. but so disorderly were they that their clothes were almost en- urely torn off en route, and by their screams they attracted a large crowd. A Stnious Caarer.—Yesterday evening, & colored man. named Geo. W Dyson, appeared St the station-bouse, stating that in the upper Portion of the town, near Market street, he was twice shot at by a man who called to him, he not answering the call, the man raised pistol, and after saying, “you black you are aot fit to live,” fired.
