U.S. A.; General Gor- don Granger, and Colonels Moore and Mor- row. of the staff, lettin the 7.45 train for Bos- ton. to be present at the Masonic gelebration on Monday next. The Knights Templar of this city, accompanied the President, with the Marine Band of thirty pieces, under Scala, as an escort. Postmaster General Randall left yesterday afternoon to see his wife on a Euro- pene steamer, and will join the perty on the Toute, The Knights Templars left the nail, corner of 9th and BD streets, at 7 o’clock, and marched to the depot where the line was opened, leav- ing & passage-way to the platform, where a train of 11 cars had been made up, to which ‘Was attached the engine in charge ot Mr. But ler. Mr. Stveck!, be Russian Minister, is in the company on his way te New York, baving recently come to Washington at the inyitation of the’Secretary of Stateto exchange the ratifications of the Ruseian-Awmerican treaty, and was invited by the Secretary to accompany the party to the former city. Col. Seward came to the cars, but business required bis remaining in Washington. Postmaster General Randall left for New York last night, and will join the party ia that city. Swann, of Maryland. with Inspector General Jeffries, Adjutant General Berry, and Judge Advocaie Latrobe came on board the train and paid their respects to the President and Mr. Seward, and accompanied them to Baltimore. Gov. Swann handed tne President a letter couched in complimentary ter and encios- ing the resolution of tue Maryland State Con- stituional Convention, earnestly inviting him te yiert Annapolis on his retura from Boston. The President, in a vote,pegged the Governor to return bis thanks tathe Convention for this mark of their respect and contidence, saying if practicable he will visit Anumapolis on the 2¢th instant. BIRMINGHAM, June 2U—Lvening —The har- angues of aman named Murphy against Po- pery ledto the disturbances here. At least one hundred thousand people were in the streets. The mob had the city, sacked several houses and marched through the streets sing- ing “Jobn Brown,” “Glory, Hallelujah.’ and other choruses. The riot act was read, and troops were ordered to the city from Man- chester, but were not obliged to fire upon the pecple. ‘Lue police used their cutlasses, and several persons were wounded, but none killed. The excitiment has now somewhat lulled. and it is thought that the disturbance has ended. Mur- phy bas persisted every night in making long, offensive speeches against the Roman Catholic CnurcB, ridiculing 1s rites. Several attempts to renw the disorder have been put down, and comparative quiet now prevails. The Indian War, St. Louis, June 21.—Omaha dispatches say a battle was fought on the 12th inst. at O'Fal- lon’s Station, between axty whites belonging to Wilsen & Cloggin’s train, en route fur Fort Phil Kearney, and trom 100 to 150 Indians. Nine Indians are supposed to have been Killed, and the whites sustained no loss. Six companies of troops left Fort Sedgwick for Fort Saunders on Saturday last. The Indians are quiet between the North Platte and Denver. but the troubles continue between Denver and Laramie, A Denver paper of the 14th inst. announces thearrival of three Platte coaches, forcy pas- sengers and a heavy mail. Also,two Smoky Hill coaches. The indians took seventy-two mules and horses from Hugo Station, and killed one sol- ier. Gen. Sherman, it is said. is displeased with Colorado volunteers, their movements not being sufficiently prompt. He is still at the North Platte. The Nati 1 Temperance Convention. .
