Our committee tbep met at the German delegates’ head- quarters, and elected General Krzycanows- ky to tage said Boyd's place, unless he would comply with our request, and that was to vote with the majority of the committee. 1 60 tn- formed the said Boyd, as requested by com mil@e, when he replied that he would do so bot enter his protest. Now, I speak what I know to be 80, in saying that there was not a delegate trom this District who was oot in favor of universal suffrage; but those desirous of securing @two-third Kepublican majority in the Fertieth Congress, did not believe it could be done by going to the people on any such platform, and 1 think that Connecti- ent. Obio, Indiana, and other States have shown that we could not baye carried the issue before the people. As for the resolution of Dr. Boyd last evening, [ did not understand it properly when I spoke; but the morning P&pers do me an injustice when they say that Isaid 1 voted against the Philadelphia suf- frage resolution, for 1 was not on the commit- tee, andas I left the Convention on Friday resolutions had been presented. 1 am inform. ed, however, after Jas. I would net refer to this, but I tind that several self-proposed candidates for office are trying to divide the ereat Republican party of this city. 1 know that speak the truth when I say that Boyd or any one else who dares attempt to divide it will be sunk so deep that the copper- head party, who are now so far under the ground, will never be able to raise them, for the Republicans interd to have but one ticket, and that will be of men who believein the Holy wnt, and a reward and pnuisiment hereafter, men who will be of some pride to ovr city, but not common aisturbers of the Republican party Faxcy KoyyeT Rineoxs from auction, at “5 cemts a yard, worth 65 cents, 1.
