Dr. Samson, who spoke until the hour of adjournment. re TEMPERANCE HALL.—The Washington City ‘Temperance Socrety having bargained for the purchase of Temperance Hail, on E street, be- iween ‘th and i0th streets, nave commenced to Taise the necessary funds by disposing of stock wt S2 per share, (a sum within the reach of ail, and already, before any active effort was mace, nearly 2,000 shares have been taken. The so- ciety has been chartered by Congress, and it is Proposed to raise 524,000 by disposing of stock, =20,000 fo go towards the purchase of the build- ing. and the remainder towards eniarging it and making the necessary repairs. Besides providing in the building a large hall for pub- dic meetings and yooms for temperance organ- izations, it is proposed to have temperance dipimg-rooms and lodging-rooms connected ‘with the establishment. The members intend to go to work earnestly in the canse, and in- tend not only to obtain signatures to the pledze, bat when they find an abandoned drunkard they propose to take him to their rooms, feed and ciotbe him, and if possible, furpish him employment.
