Mr. Wall, cbairmsn of the committee to rep- resent the interests of the Board before Con- gress, stated that a bill bad been drawn and presented to the chairman of the Senate Dis- trict Committee, baying tor its object the 1m- provement of the channel of the Potomac, agreeable to the resolution of Mr. Clagett of- fered at the Jast meeting Mr. A. K. Shepherd said he had a conversa- tion wiih the Mayor. and be hoped the Board ot Trade would act im unison with the Cor- poration in regard to the new Centre Market and riverimprovement. Mr. Shepherd offered tne foe wing: Reseleed, That the committe representing the interests of this Board be, and are Rereby instructed to furnish to this Board a copy of the bill prepared by them and submitted to the Senate Committee in order that this Board may bave an opportunity of judging of its merits. Mr. Shepherd said he was a member of the committee, on the part of this Board. before Congress, but at the time the dill was prepared and presented to the Senate Committee be was sick, and sid uot see the bill, therefore he kbew nothing of its contents, and he did propose to go it blind on anything. Mr. Wall objected, and wanted to Tead the Tesointion instructing the committee Mr. Orme wanted to know what was before the Board The Chair—“Mr. Wali, you are heaping G@estions on questions aud speeches on speeches so that we don’t know what we are about.’ Mr. Wall said hie resolution was the first before the Board, and shouid be acted on. The Chair announced that an uarbicration committee must be elected, and the Board pro- ceeded to ballot for the same, when the fol- lowing named gentlemen were elected: James L. Crowley were elected members of the Board.
