The struggle for the various municipal of- fices still Waxes Warmerand warmer. oe A WASHINGTONIAN ARRESTED For Brr- GLARY.—Yesterday morning, as the early train was about leaving Harrisburg, Pa, for Balti- more, Edward Taylor, of this city,and Jobn Green and Francis Hillmer. of Baitimore, all youpg men. were arrested for burglary at the Gwelling of Hugh Pitcairn, at Harrisburg, Thursdsy night, while the family were absent. On Taylor were found a jimmy, powie-knife, and a psirof key nippers. The resolutions were ubanimousiy adopted A letter trom Mayor Addison was read, say- ing be was in bad health, whieh would pre- vent his attendance, but he would endorse any aetion of the meeting, and declaring his oppo- sition to impartial saffrage. Captain Goddard said he had waited upon the Mayor and found him too i]! to be present. Capt. Goddard remarked that the meeting to-night was not designed for speech making. He was followed by Recorder Mathews, whose subject was the purity of the last regis- tration by the Mayor and Aldermen, and de- fer se of its fairnesg. Mr. Mathews having concluded. Mr. Cooper Sgain took the stand, and proceeded to speak. The audience soon began to leave, and the re- porters followed speedily, teaving Mr. still holding forth. Sales are made sparingly. to supply the imme- diate wants of city dealers. Good supers, #11.50 to $12; cut extras, $12.25a$13; and extras, #13 50 to $14, and some choice lots at $14.25. Grain dull. Wheat—Red, $2 85 to $2.00; white, $3 to $3.25. Corn, trom ons. 55: cents, and at stores mostly held $1. The status of the market the coming week will depend greatly on the Government biddings, which will close to-day. The prices fortwo months past have been merely nominal, and the bidding may determine the prices of breadstuffs in this mar- ket durin, ie coming week. THE PROVISION MARKETS.—The markets to- day were as well attended and the supply was as ample and of good quality as is expected at this season of the year.
