Jonnsow.—The funeral services of the late Philip Johnson. a tember of the House of Representatives, from Pennsylvania, took place from the House yes- terday morning, and was very largely at- tended, the floor being occupied by Senators and members, with their families, and the galleries by the public generally. Dr. Boynton, Edward SePhereor, Clerk of the House, and Mr. Ord way, Sergeant-at-Arms. the floor and to the rigut of the Speaker's desk were seated President Jobnson and his Private Secretary, ‘ol. Moore, Hon. Wm. H. Seward, Hen. J. Hogan, of Mo. and Hon. Myer Strouse, of Pennsylvania. The services were conducted by Rev Dr. Boynton, Chaplain of the House, ‘who delivered an impressive discourse from 2d Corinthians, 5th chapter and 2d verse. after which the cortege wus formed and proceeded to the Congressional Cemetery, where the re- mains were deposited in ene of the vaults, preparatory toremoya!to Easton, Pa. SOS Se 2S New Mayor oF Wasutnctoy.—In the course of Judge Underwood’s remarks last wight at the African Methodist Church, he Stated that the president of the Freedmen's Relief Association of Washington (whoever that bappy individual may be) has been waited upon and informed by a committee of colored men that he was the unanimous choice of the entire number of the colored people residing there for Mayor, and that he had accepted the nomination.—Alezandria Gazette. it has been stated tha: the person referred to in the svove paragraph is a colored man by the name of Cook; but this is a mistake. The fines im- posed in Corporation cases amounted to $113.85. The cases of drunkenness and disorderly conduct number thirty-two, while tor larceny there were five arrests only, a tempt at rape one, keeping gambling house one, of which last eases but one, a petty lar- ceny case against Danie! Webster, colored, ar- rested by officer Crump, of the First Ward, was sent to court. A servant girl who was employed in the house having been taken sick, acknowledged that she stole and gave it to her lover, Joseph Carroll, @ Grammer of the 12th U.S. Infantry. Officer Sprague arrested Carroll, and recovered $2) of the money yesterday, and Justice Handy com- mitted the prisoner to jail for court.
