Jack would not endure her lecture, Aud brought it to a close by extracting Nancy's frovt teeth with a blow from nis fist. Three or four of bercutters were removed. and Nancy did not complain of the operation being painful, but the flow of blood was pro- digious. During the war ot Iv he was an adjutant of the wniformed vol- unteers, and rendered efficient service, es. pecially in supporting Commodores Perry and ‘orter im their attack on the British fieet in the Potomac.
