4 ‘THE EVE LOCAL NEWS. MELTING OF THE DEMOCRATIO ASSOCIA‘ Ion, Lae. e¥eRIDg A Special meeting of the Nation J Democratic Association was held at Germ o Hall, Col. Mr. Thomas was nominated as marshal, but declined in favor ot Mr. Florence. Dr. Clayton offered a resolution, that as the ‘arious ward clubs are composed of memb rs of the association, the association deem it ad- visable not to appear in the Procession ina body. The resolution was debated at considerable length by Messrs. Aiken, Sinctair, Dr. Allen, Cisyton. Florence, Rutherford, Gary. Moses, and Thomas, some of whom expressed the opinion that the asseciation should have been assigned to near the right of the line, and «at they should pass this resolution as a reb ike, while the majority were of the opinion that the associa ion should be in line, even if there were Dtt five members. The absence of the “ssociation would cause remark, and in the end might be productive of barm. ‘The resolution was laid on the table. Col. Florence was selected as marshal, with Capt. Gary and Mr. Thomas as assistanis. Ir. Allen moved the appointment of a com- Muttee to examine the affairs of the association, With & view to reorganize; whch was agreed so, and Messrs.
