Boarp or Scxoot Trusters—Election of Teackers.—Last evening the of the Board of Trustees of Public School: ‘Was beid at the — Hall, Dr. F.S. Walsh in the chair, and the follewing present: Mezers. Wilson, Woodward, Johnson, Holmead, Cas- sell, Tressurer Morsell and Secretary Botsean. The chair Iaid before the Board the resigna- tion of Miss Jennie A. Ramsey of Secondary School No.s, and Miss Frances Elvans of tbe Female Intermediate School of the Third Dis- trict, which was accepted, and a resolution was Adopted expressive of the regret of the Board on receiving the resignation of Miss Eivans, who bas been a teacher for fifteen years A commafication was received from the Commissioners of the Fire Department en- closing resolutions for the appointment of a committee to consider a plan to make the fire department more effective, and empowering them to confer with the Trustees on the pro- ptiety of turning over the building formerly ‘now b as the Northern Liberty engine-house new occupied for school purposes, for the use of the fire department, and recommending the erection of & more suitable building for the schools occupying that buildimg: and in- forming the Board that Messrs. Thompson, Canfield and Clark were appointed the com- mittee. The communication was referred to the sub-board of the Second District. The election of teachers being in order. the nominations for the several districts were made separately by Messrs. Sergeant Jobn<on with Oficer | esterfield arrester the party, who gave their names as James Gray, Wm. H. Selv Jonn | Cann and John West. They were locked up in thesiation. When they found thar they ‘were pursued two of the party threw away the fashionable weapon now in use by the co trabands—the razor—with which they we armed. They were brought out before Jus’ Walter yesterday afternoon and asserted that they came from Anne Arundel County, Md., and were om 4 visit to their relatives who re- | side in this city but could give no satisfactory account as to what they were doing ner the Park. Justice Walter sent them to Captain Spurgin, of the Freedmen’s Bureau. = = ARREST FOR ASSAULTING A Boy.—La: night, Jonn English was arrested by an oii of the Secona Ward, for an assault on 2 waiter boy at (be Columbia Gardens, and taken to the Central Guardhouse. The case was heard by Justice Morsell this morning, when i ap- | peared that English and another person were in the Gardens, and the other person called tor liquor, and when the boy asked for pay ue gave him a note. The boy returned it,saying | at Was a three cent note, but the man asserted that it was a fifty cent note that he gave him. ‘The boy insisted that it was a three cent note, and demanded his full pay. English inter. terfered in the dispute, and tinaily siruck the boy, which caused his arrest. On entering the station she pes her name as Maria Bryan. Dr. D B. iehols, who resides next door, testified that she very frequently behaves in a disorderiy manner, and that yesterday a cat belonging to | one of his children having got into her yard, she gave vent to a tirade of abuse on himself and tamily. Justice Walter fined ler $10, which she paid. She, however. did not leave the station, but turning to the officers she mace some threats towards the py roe Witness, and they locked her up for a hearing.
