Levy Covrr.—at a meeting of the Levy Courten Monday a letter was rectived fron the Mayor of Washington calling attention t. the destruction of the bridge on Boundary street, mear Gd street west, and asking if th> Court will undertake the work, cae-kalf tue xpense to be borne by the Corporation or vi-e vers The communication was referred to committee on police, who subsequently report- ed that the whole of Boundary street lays Witbin the hmits of the Corporation, and the Levy Court bas no control over the same; Which was ad: The Chair (Judge Sargent) stated that Won- gress bad passed an act for the establishment of a House of Correction in the county, which provides for the appointment of seven direc- tors, four by the President and one each by the Corporations. The Court eeded to ballot for # director to represent the county and Mr. 5_J. Bowen was elected. Mr. Brown presented a petition from the committee of arrangements of the African Methodist camp meeting to be held near Orys- tal Springs on the 23d or 24th instant, asking the privilege of erecting places and selling articles on the camp greund: which was ree ferred to the committee on police; and su =e. quently a resolution was reperted grinting the request, provided that no spirituous or fer- mented liquors shall be on the ground, and adopted. Mr. Biagden, from the committee cn police. made a report on police matters, recommending that the present arrangement of renting a sta- fon conjointly with the Corporation for the Second Precinct, provided that the owners of the building pow used repair the same, and aise that a small sab precinct station-hou<, cost, from four te six hundred dollars, be erect in Uniontown. The was ac- cepted. A resolution was offered by Dr Nichols instructing the committees on police and health to endeavor to have the repairs and impr ve- ments made, and to purchase a site for a suit- sble sub-station at or near Uniontowm: which Was adopted. — A DIsHONEsT SBRVANT—This morning, Detectives Clarvoe and McDevitt arrested a negro girl, about 19 years of age. very black. but a greatdeal of white in her eyes. named Alice Williams, upon a chargeof robbiag Mra. Brown, Pa. avenue, between lth and iith streets, of various articles of clothing, valued At $14. She had not been long im Mrs. Brown's employ before she perpetrated the thefts, and this gives the detectives room to suspect that she bas been hiring to families. remaining long enough with each to perpetrate a robbery and then leave. Efany persons have been roboed by a servant answering ‘he description above, they will serve the ends of justice by inform- ing the detectives. She has already been iden- tufted im several cases, but went by different nemes, and probably her aliases are as numer- cous as ber thefts. Malone, went to the cffice of Justice Bates and hada warrant issued tora man named Donnelly, who be chirged with selling liquor on Sunday. The warrant was served by efficer Johnson. of the Second Ward, and the hour set for trial. At the hour neither principal por witness appeared. The case Was continued until another time, bat the principal and witness did notappear Justice tes, atthe suggestion of roundsman Walker, issued an attachment, and last night officer Johnson took the witness and locked him up in the Central Guardbouse. There were strong fuspicions that money secured the absen Ma one from the trial, but he says he did not get any morey himself, though he believes a | friend of his did. Most of these gentlemen had beer indulging rather freely in certain beverages calculated to induce drowsiness. Some were taken in charge by the police, and others awakening and discovering their losses, were sharp enough to say nothing, except to personal triends, and save exposure.
