The gone CHARGE OF Pern Some weeks ago Nicholas Murray was arrested for keeping a fembling house, the cuarge being made on the oath of Thos. Reilly, who testified that he gam- bled in that house with aman named Cunning- ham. the landlord, Murray, holding the stakes: tbat at the close of the game Murray reiused to give up the stakes. and that Ounningham #nd himself had some words about it, and Cunningham pet his hand in his pocket as if to draw a pistol. Justice Walter fined Mur- Tay $50. Subsequently Murray went to Jus- tice Walter to bave a warrant issued against Reilly for perjury, Murray alleging that Reil- ly swore that Cunningham had a pistol. Jus- tice Walter refused the writ. Murray then went to Justice Giberson and made the ¢ harge, Reilly was arrested yesterday and committed to jail tor court by Justice Giberson. Ee SSS A CHARGE oF GRanp LarcEeNny.—Yester- day, detectives Kelly and Bigiey arrested Henry Jackson, late leader of the band of the Ist D.C. colored intantry, for the larceny of four instruments belonging to the band. He Was brought before Superintendent Richards, at police headquarters, and had a hearing. tt appears that the instraments were porchased by the regiment and presented to the band with the understanding that any member leay- ing the band sbould leave his instrament. Jackson having left the band, and being about to Organize & new one, took an instrument that belonged to Sim, and three that belonged to the band The instruments were recovered, #nd atter the hearing Jackson was dismissed, and permitted to take his own instrument: but the others are retained by the Superintendent, subject to further investigation. oe —- Tue District tn Concress.—In the House of Representatives yesterday, Mr. Ingersoll! imtroduced a bill ‘to regulate fees of the Reg- ister of deeds in the District ot Columbia,” pro- viding «that from and after its passare the Register of Deeds of the District of Columbia shall be entitled to charge for recording all deeds and others instruments of writing now authorized by law to be recorded in the sum of twenty cents for each one hundred words, and # like sum for all copies orextracts made from tbe records of said office.” The bill was read twice and referred to the Committee for the District of Columbia.
