Thatin said affi- davit deponent charged that the said defen- dants fraudulently obtained money from him for lottery tickets and policy slips. That de: ponent also in said affidavit stated that he had been recently informed and believed, and ex- pected to be able to prove, that said drawings ofsaid Kentucky Lotteries instead of having been lawfully and fairly drawn, had been falsely and fraudulently drawn, or when fairly drawn, the numbers drawn fraudulently .sup- pressed, and others substituted in their piace, with a view of cheating and pthiciectrrg 4 ete. And this depenent further says, that he had no personal knowledge ef any of the charges above stated in saig@ affidavit. That all nis knowledge was derived from intermation re- ceived by him ofsaid Stanley. That atthe time he made said affidavit, and commenced action, he was not aware of the character of said Stan- ley, but that since making the same he has ful- ly ascertained that said Stanley 1s a person of very bad reputation, and has been convicted and sentenced to prison for the erime of lar- ceny. That had deponent known his charac- ter, and thathe would have torely on such evidence to prove his case, he would not have tituted this action. And deponent further s, he 1s now satisfied that the object of said nley in inducing deponent to commence this action, was, that he, said Stanley, might levy black mailon those persons who wereen- gaged im the business. And this deponent further says, that he makes this statement voluntarily and without reward or the promise of reward, and solely as a matter of justice tothose whom heis now satisfied that he has wronged by the statement heretofore made by him.
