Large amounts are being in- vested in Government seeurities, aad to some exient, investments are being made in the sounder raiiroad stocks; but there is still a Jarge amount of unemployed balances on the market, which are 4 per cent.on Government collaterals, without finding borrowers. Gold yestePcay steady at 126% 01263. From the Baltimore American we quote mar- kets in that city as follows: Fleur—Sales reported include 300 bbis. Nerihwestern Extra at $10, 100 bbls. Superfine do. at $3.56, and 100 bbls. Howard street Super at $9.25 per bbl. Market quiet but tirm for all grades, receipts of Howard street and Western descriptions being very moderate. Grain —Receipts this morning at the Corn and Flour Exchange footed up 250 bushels wheat, 4,500 do. corn, and 1,000 do. oats. Nething of importance was done in wheat, transactions being confined tu 100 bushels yery | good white at 300 cents, and 300 bushels very fair red at 256 cents, but the market closed nominally unchanged for all grades. Large sales of Western wheat have been made during she past few days, to arrive, on private terms, UBNdersiood to be at 1Ma200 cents. Corn was rather firmer, fair to prime samples of white velling at 27290 cents, and good and prime yel- low at #6856 cents, principally at the lower rate for the latter variety. Some small lots of mixed corn and inferior white were taken at €2a53 cents. Gats were dull at 50252 cents, Weight, no large lots being sold. No sales of rye reported. Provisions—Bacon and lard are in some demand, and the latter is held very firmly. Nothing of importance doing in bulk meat or barrelled pork. We quote prices as follows: Bulk shoulders at 1 yall¥ cents, sides at lia WX cents. and pickled hams at becon at 133 cents for shoulders, at i5xal5 cents for sides, and at 19a22 cents for su: cured hams, choice canvassed only able at the latter rate.
