There his companions garroted him, knocked him down, and took his money. Some citizens saw the act, and immediately gave information at the Second Ward station. Officers Sneed and Walker went in pursuit of the robbers. Officer Sneed first arrrsted Lambert and turned him over to citizens, who took him to the station. Sneed kept the trail of Walsh, and after a long chase caught him on the Long Bridge, and carried him-to the station. Officer Walker pur- sued the third party, who proved to be the ** fastest” of the trio, as he managed to escape. ‘This morning, the prisoners had a hearing be- fore Justice Morsell, were fully identified by the witnesses, and were sentto jail for court. Unfortunately, at the time that the officers were pursuing the robbers, a young man named Adamson came running through the Smithsonian grounds, and was pointed out to Se:geant Skippon by some boys as one of the fugitives. Sergeant Skippon arrested him, and being accused of robbery he became excited, Fesisied the officers, and drew a large crowd sbout him. Tfiis morning, it appeared that he had been with @ friend in the Smithsonian grounds, and haying parted with him, and being cold, he started to run to the city, which caused himto be suspected.
