~~: EVENING STAR. Charch Difficulty in Leesburg, Va. The Leesburg Mirror of yesterday says:— Wnder the pe Be of a recent order from the War nag ee Which gives possession of eertain Methodist church ype oe “to those ministers and members who re: with and } actunder the ecclesiastical Jarisdiction gOv- erning said churches prior to tee1e ‘the charch | edifice at Hamilton, in this county, was on | Sunday last so disposed of by mili author. ity. Since the formation if 1861, 1 known as the Staunton Conterence, ‘the eburch at Hamilton has been occu) by ministers Delonging to that body—there being none others, until prog to Saree itsuse. Sun- Gay morning Jast ng & ular appointment of the Rev. ‘Sar. ‘Waugh, of the Staunton Con- ference, an ap) tment fer the same hour was also made b ¥. Mr. Ross, of Baltimore Uon- ference, ands courier despatched to Hamilton on Saturday to demand the keys of the house, which was refused. With the rising of the Sabbath sun, a file of twelve or fifteen armed soldiers, proceeded to the scene-of action, arriving on the ground about §\ o'clock. A considerable congregation had already assem- bied in the church to hear Mr. Waugh, who had not yet entered the house. He was waited —o the officer in charge of the squad, and ed that he would not be allowed to fill ointment, and the house trrned over to oss, wherenpon the former gentleman setinad and the most of the assembled congre- gation with him. Another congregation then assembled, and Mr. Ross fulfilled his appoint- ment. A considerable number of persons had gathered together, in anticipation, no doubt, of & difficulty, but no disturbance took place be- yond that we have stated. These are the facts &s given us by one who was present. As the order from Washington leaves the final title to the church property to be decided by the courts, we presume the question will ere long be judicially settled. Bie a] OoLorep Rr 8 TO THE SIAMESE T wIns.— We called in, m company with some other gentlemen, last evening, to see the African twins, on exhibition, temporarily, at the Ex- ehange Hotel. We look upon themas a greater Batural curiosity than the celebrated Siamese twins, who have for several years attracted the attention of the curious and scientific, in this country as weilas Enrope. The connec- tion between these girls is closer than in the Siamese twine, there being more of the physical and mental organs commontoeach. The con- nection begins below the neck and terminates &@t the extremity of the spine. To touch one at any point of her body below the connection sende a sensation to the brain of each; while a touch of either above the connection is felt by that one only. They can talk to different per- fons at the same time on entirely different snb- Jjeete; and one can engage in a came of whist while the other reads or sings.— Raleigh (.N. C.) #tandard. m7“ Greasy chanics” Wanted in the South S7 The New Haven Palladium says that the ast new het for ladies in New Haven is «a brown velvet dice box, with a littledead wood- cock perched over the forehead of the wearer, tryig to peck out her right eye.” S7 A Petersburg, Va., papers laughs at the young ladies there for regularly looking under the bed since the burglars have been so preva- lent.
