A’ committee of three has, for some weeks, been | employed in invesugating the books of the Company, but we understand, without ar- riving at any defimite result. The recent | losees appear to bave been very heavy, and have induced the Company to suspend. A great many of the risks, we are informed, have been distant, and contracted through agents perhaps more interested in commissions than mm the profits of the institution.
