The bride weighs five hundred and eighty-five pounds avordupois. She has bern exhibited at Judge Ingall’s museum, on Mar- ket street, near Ninth, for some time past. Mr. Rein, on visiting the establishment, fell violently in love with the fair giantess, pro- posed marriage, and “of course she said yes.” Last evening, at eight o'clock, the carriage drew up before the museum, and the twain, soon to be made ene, entered therein and pro- ceeded te the church. The bridal party sisted of the Siamese twins—Chang and Eng— and other celebrities of the maseom. Upon entering the church the visitors were the most “observed of all observers.” They were united in the matrimonial bond in accordance with the plain usage of the Methodist persaa- sion, after which they retired. The event was extraordin: because of the remarkable fact of the indifference in the size of the parties. It was regarded with a great deal of interest. The bride did not falter or tremble wpon being led to the altar.—)’hiladelphia Press, Monday. AN UNPARAL OvTRA just from F: uier mgm f gives us some ad- ditional particulars in relation to the firing of Mrs. Major Dixon's house, which occurred several days ago. It will be remembered tha the husband of this lady, who was a pay- master during the war in the Federal army, was shot and killed in this city not long since by Dr. Maddox, of Fauquier county. but more recently of Richmond. After the death of Major Dixon, who was one of the staunchest Union men in the country, the ex-rebels de- termined to drive his unprotected widow from the county of Fanqunier, and they proceeded ia real guerrilla style to burn her house over her head, at the dead hour of night, with the hope , no doubt, of burning her and h protected children with it. A kind yp - dence, however, averted the doom intended for them by these heartless and cold blooded scoundrel+, and the fire kindled against Up door failed to ignite the house. This atiemp: was sufficient, however, to drive Mrs. Dixon from her home, and she is again an exile in Washington from her home and from her na- tive State, as she has been during the past five years.—Alez.
