ROULSTER—JEALOUSY AND SIN. Yesterday afternoon, @ man named Horatio H. Boulster shot a temale named Kate Hunter, 1m the house No. 269 D street, between 13th and 13% streets. The affair oceurred about six ‘ and Roulster was arrested immedi- ter by officer Howes, and was taken to the cond Ward station-honse. Physicians were called to attend the wounded woman, and they ascertained that the ball had entered the thigh, but all efforts to find and extract it were upsuccessful. This morning, Boulster had a hearing before Justice Bates, Annie Stecle sworn.—Testified that she was in the room with Kate liunter when the prisoner eutered. He was angry with Kate abont something she bad said. Witness was sitting on a chair, and Kate was sitting on the floor with cards telling her fortune. The prisoner asked Kate if she had not created all the dif- ficulty. He had a pistol in his hand, and aimed itatber. She threw herself upon the floor and he fired the pistol. Witness had never seen the Prisoner till about two weeks ago. Anna Merwin eworn.—ls the keeper of the house. Knows nothing of the shooting. About two hours before the shooting Boulster came to the house. He acted kind ot crazy. Wit- ness has known the prisoner five years. He lites in Connecticut at the same place as wit- ness, and came to the city to see her. The dis- turbance alluded to was all about a strange young girl who came to the house: it was jeal- ousy; and witness admitted that she was ~ ous of the strange girl. The prisoner thought that the wounded girl had told witness what had occurred between him and thestrange girl. The reason that witness knew nothing of the shooting was that she was locked up in her room when itoceurred. She don’t know who locked her door. With this testimony before him, the Justice committed Boulster to jail for court in default of $1,000 bail. Annie Merwin bad made a much stronger Statement of the case to the magistrate and offi- cers last night. She said that Boulster came to ber bouse and asked her if she did not think she bad lived longenough. He put a pistol to the back of her head and a girl saw it and fainted. He then went out and locked the door and she beard the report of the pistol. The Justice concluded that it would be nec- essary to hold the witnesses to bail for court, and he required of them bail in $250 each. —_____. METROPOLITAN POLICE CoMMISSIONERS..
