He replied that he was going to baye an operation performed on his teeth. The detective searched him, and found a pair of pants, valued at $16, taken from the clothing store. He was taken before Superin- tendent Richards, and there gave his name as Wm. Collins, of Philadelphia. KeLever.—We stated on Saturday that it feared this gentleman’s reason had been sensibly affected, in consequence of being called as a witness in the trial of the conspir- ators, and to wstify as to his hiring of a horse in the regular line of his business. Though no one whispered even asuspicion that there was anything improper in the transaction, the call- ing bim to the stand in connection with such trial, was too much for his honorable and sen- sitive feelings, and an attack of sickness re- sulted, theextent of which has been exagger- ated.
