McUollum as “John Savage,” supported by the entire company. OxFORD.—A huge bill of burlesque, ballet, Songs, and negro delineations. To-morrow night farewell benefit of Hugh Dougherty. Cigcus.—Stone & Resston’s great equestrian nd acrobatic troupe, corner of New York ay- enue and 6th street. Last day of the perform- ances. MENAGERIE AND Crgcus.—Van Amburgh’s ZOvlogical and equestrian combination, Sixth Street, near the Clarendon. To-morrow, the Aast exhibition by the great company. CANTERHBUBY.—Baliet, songs, clog dances, burlesque, and other comicalities, concluding witb a side-splitting afterpiece. -———.—_—_ Tee WORKMEN OF WASHINGTON.—[From the Sunday Telegram of Baltimbre, of Feb. 10th. }—The following letter, from one who had seen the play which has been attracting such crowded houses at the Front Street Theater, ‘Was received at the box office one morning Jast week, from one who had evidently feltthe gocd moral effect of the play: BAa.tTiMmorg, Feb. 14, 1565.—To the Manager:— Sir: I send you this as a testimony of the effect which the play of last night produced upon me, and which | will leave to your dis- cretion of using it as an advertisement. I do not presume that it is a fine literary display on Dy part, but ] senditasa truth, whic! ban doubt will answer as well, for often a truth Suffices in the place of a literary fiction. This play Be sents atonce two interesting Teatures; at the same time it is instructive to the young, and teaches them to beware of the g@reat evils of eeegesen It is pleasing, embracing many go points, which are only ‘worthy the distinguisked actress. It stands forth in originality ot style, which does not tarnish it in the least; but, on the contrary, no Coubt, willbe an mtroduction of a@style which is well suited for all temperaments. Atunce itis a comedy, drama, and mightreadily be classed a tragedy—considered as either, it ‘will be still a great moral lesson. Fathers, ou who have children, take them to see and earn, and thus perform a parentalduty. You -who are standing upen the brink of the abyss of ruin, go see this play, and probably the mist will be drawn from your vision, and you May behold the many rocks upon which you @re about tocast yourselves. Thisplay, if you Bave not become void of all perception, will turn the few inches which intervenes between yyou and the brink into acres, and thus snatch you from the jprobationary listof irtetrievable drunkards. FROM AN ADMIRER. To-night and to-morrow night at Ford’s The- tre, 10th street. _—__—»—_—_— ABSTRACTION OF FRACTIONAL CURRENCY. —Last week a young woman who has been at ‘work tor several menths past in the bydro- Static press room of the Preasury Department, ‘was arrested by Detectives Claryoe and McDe- ‘witt, of the Metropolitan force, for abstracting fractional currency. She is barely fifteen years of age, and was employed in the room where the notes in sheets are rolled ont, and it ap- pesrs that from time to time small amounts ‘were missed. A short timesince 4 lot of nearly two hundred sheets of quarter notes (about Ss) worth) was missed and shortly after ‘nother small lot also disappeared. Suspicion tell upon her and she was suspended by the Secretary of the Treasury. Detectives Clarvoe znd McDevitt then took the matter in hand, and by following her up ascertained that she ‘was spending money witha free hand, and also that it was some ofthestolen money. She ‘was therefore arrested on Friday morning and is in custody at the Police headquarters. The Bmount taken has been ascertained and her Triends hayealready made it up. pT aaa ALADDIN.—This oriental spectacle has been brought out very finely indeed, by Manager Grover. The songs of Misses Germon and Grey meet with tervent success. The living Fountain of Colored Waters is something new in Washington, and therefore, as it deserves, is well received. Mons. Mathieu has very ef- Tectually arranged the difficult ballets, inter- spersed throughout the play. Koppitz looks to the music—vocal and instrumenta!—which Statement is alone sufficient to vouch for its excellence. Aladdin will be played on Saturday after- oon at cheap prices. We presume the little people will turn out in full force to see their Tnoet favored story represented in true splen- dor. — PostTronev.—The further hearing of the cas@ of Dennis, Shedd, Seaman and Bauer, the young men arrested on suspicion of being con- Zeeted with the shooting of George Russell, mear the Franklin engine-house, a few eve- nings since, has been further postponed until next Wednesday at} e’clockp.m. The young ‘men continued their bail for a hearing, except Bauer, who was discharged upon his own recognizance. The reason of the postponement is the feverish condition of Mr. Russell, con- fining him to his chamber. a Tue TurRwers.— Delegates from various Turners’ Societies of the United States are holding a National Convention here to effect a ermanent organization. The officers are J. Stitzer, of Williamsburgh, L. 1., president; A. Wage, of Philadelphia? vice president: Messrs. Stangel, of Cincinnati, and Groch, of Roches- ter, secretaries, The session is harmonious. ao Sung Ee ConcERT.—The concert given by the choir of the Dunbarton street Church, Georgetown, @n Wednesday last, will be repeated this even- ing.
