We do not propose to ehbill or astonish the pupils by airing a critical vocabulary over their unpretending off-handed efforts as pupils, but may say in general terms, that the exercises as a whole showed the school to be up to its usual excellent mark, and that they afforded much gratification to the num- ber of veteran teachers of our leading schools who were present, as well as to the audience at large. Among the performances eliciting more especial commendation was the recitation “The tiard Name,” by Misses Peyton, Hinton, Le Isdell, Pumphrey, Lucas, and Hen- ning. The«Army Hymn,” by the whole school. “Our Country is in Danger,” solo and chorus. “The May (jueen,’ read by Miss Emma Morse. ‘The Picket Guard,” by Miss Aman- da Thompson.
