E. Da . Speaking of the play, and of Miss Jones’ impersonation, & well known critic writes :— “The character of the story is that of womauly tenderness, of an all-absorbing passion, tinged ‘With religious zeal, and intensified by the con- Straints imposed upon its utterance. The pre- eminent fituees of Miss Ayonia Jones to inter- pret the sentimental beauty of such 8 character. lew of our intelligent play-goers will qaestion. No actress who has appeared upon the Ameri- can stage ever equatied Avonia Jones in the Tare grace with which she expresses the softer emotions of her sex; by none has she been sur- passed in the natural modesty of her pergona- tors. These traits of her artistic temperament richly and admirably qualify her for the im- personationd of Lean.” a PRESENTATION OF COMMUNION SERVICE.— Last evening, the ladies of the several Presby- terian churches in Washington and George- town presented the Presbyterian Mission Church, on Capitol Hill, with a beautiful set of communion service.
