Last hight Messrs. George F. Kidwelland Viehmy- er kept watch over their wood, and caught a boy of 15 years in the act of taking wood from the yard of Mr. Kidwell. When taken to the station-house of the Second Ward, he said that he and other boys took wood from the yards and sold it to persons, white and colored, liv- irg near the canal, in the Second Ward. He glsosaid that they are not the only ones en- waged, and that early of mornings many col- ored persons may be found moving large quan- tities of wood. He says they find no difficulty in selling to the parties he mentioned.
