Langley was arrested by A. T. Vonn upon a charge of obtaining a buggy by false pretenses from George A. Payne. It ap- pesred in evidence that Langley purchased the buggy from Mr. Thomas Williams, and subse- quently sold itto Mr. Payne. Last Saturday Mr. Langley went to Payne's premises and took the buggy, telling the colored man in charge of the premises that the buggy was his, Langiey’s. The buggy was replevied by Payne, and the right of property remains to be Settled by court. Langley’s witnesses testified to his loaning the buggy to Payne by a mes- Senger who came for it and took it to Payne’s premises, and that Langley wanted to use it Sunday, and went Saturday and brought it back to his shop. Justice Giberson decided that the conduct of Langley was improper. He should have taken the course that Payne bas taken and replevied the buggy, but there was no evidence cf intention either to steal or Obtain the goods by false pretemses, and the Justice dismissed the case ae pei a a Tre Decree or Re AH was conferred upon anumber of ladies last nightby Harmony Lodge, No. 9,1. 0.0.
