The Marine Band will bein attendance, and furnish music tor the dance. ——___ Grand LARCENY.—Last night, Officer Watts, mpon information received from Baptist Po- driat, arrested Mrs. Fanny Morris for the lar- ceny of & gold watch and part of a chain, six silver tablespoons, six silver forks, six silver teaspoons, one silver soup dipper, a plated butter knife, over $60 in money, four linen shirts, @ pair of window curtains, and one blanket, the property of Baptist Podriat. The ‘woman has been living with the complainant nineteen days, in a room of a hous4 on OQ, ba- tween 11th and 12th streets, and had access to all these articles. The watch was recovered She stated that she had been living with him four weeks as his wife; he promised to marry her, but did not, and she determined to go to Wew York. She got her ticket, packed her trunk, and putin it the silver and four shirts. ‘The trunk she left at the depot. She declares that Podriat gave her these things; knew they ‘Were in the trunk, and paid for her ticket to New York. She has three children living in New York, and was going after them to bring them to Washington. Justice Clayton sent her to jail for court. She isa good looking ‘woman, of forty years of age, and says she has only been in Washington since May last. Nelly Gray, a colored girl, was arrested for the larceny of clothes from Madame Augusta, colored, last January. She had not since been geen by the complainant until last night. Brown, Esq., of this city, was the purchaser at $15,000. pasaine= eat HEAT.—Yesterday morning, about lto’clock, one of the horses attached to Car No.6 fell down in front of Scrivener’s Hall, near Capi- tol Hill, overcome by the heat, and in a few moments thereafter made his entree into “horse beayen.” The horses attached to Car No. 46 also ‘Vielded to the pressure. about the same hour, @nd laid them down to die. The car was taken from the track, and the horses dragged to the Dearest shade, where, after a persistent course of treatment, they were persuaded to resume the burden of lite for a season longer. Sa Drow NED.—A colored boy, whose name we did not learn, employed as & cook on board the mortar schooner, lying off this city, was drowned on Sunday afternoon. He was bath- ing at the time, and although not able toswim ‘was plunging overboard from a scow moored along side the schooner, depending upon a Gangling rope to haul himself up again. He finally failed in an effort to seize the rope, was Swept under the scow, and has not since been Been.
