Meeting offi- cer Crown, Welsh drew his revolver, and pre- sented it at Crown’s breast, and snapped it; uckily the cap had fallen off, and the load was not discharged. Crown seized the revolver and took it from him, and struck him a blow on the head that bled him freely. After a hard struggle-with Welsh, Crown succeeded with the aid of officer Burch, who went to his as- sistance, in taking him tothe Fourth Ward station, and yesterday he had a trial for being drunk and disorderly, and was held for har- ing; and for assault with intent to kill officer Crown, he was sent to jail for court. Subse- quently he was charged with highway rob- bery. In this case it appeared that he gatrot- ted a man named James Lynch, in Swampoo- dle, last Friday night, and took from him the Fevolver he attempted to use on Crown, and ‘Was in the act of robbing his pockets when a gentleman named Jones arrived, and Welsh escaped.
