Fifty-six counties were reprerented, and dele from twen pa chosen who were not present. Hon. G. W. Williams was appointed presi¢en:, and Col. A. G. Hodges, secretary. Among the Rrominen’ speakers were R. J. Breckisrides. . F. Burtem, Lucian Anderson, and Judge Williams. Mr. Wreckinridge told the convention in his epeech that if he were appointed a delegate he should vote for Lin- coln and nobody else, and was rapturousiy applauded. Allusions to President Lincola and to the prospects of universal freedoth by the speakers never failed to bring down the house. Mr. Breckinridge was appointed one of the delegates at large. Two Trom each Con- gressional District were also appointed to reyresent the republicans of Kentucky at the Baltimore Convention. Theconvention passed the following resolution: Resolved, That the Union men of Kentucky, in Convention assembled, favor the preserva- tion and maintenance of the Union, the su- premacy of the Constitution, and destraction of the rebellion, without any regard to what these objects may cost. The proceedings of the convention wero harmoniots and enthusiastic. Democratic State Convention. LovisvILLE, May 25.—The Democratic Union State Convention met at 10 o'clock, at the Court House. Hon. James Guthrie was made resident, and Thomas S. Wallace secretary four delegates at large and two from éach Congressional district were appointed to rep- resent Kentucky in the Chicago Convention. Ic was also resolved that an electoral ticket be selected on the same basis. In the afternoon session the electors and delegates were ap- pointed. During the consultation of the con- vention Col. Frank Wolford addressed the assembly, eliciting the most enthusiastic ap- plause. The convention, at their evening session, were occupied in the discussion of resolutions. [SECOND DISPATCH.) Cuicaco, May 26.—The resolutions of the Union State Convention were yesterday laid on the table, and another commitiee a} wee reported a series, in which are the follow- ™ solved, That the Monroe Doctrine shouid be the compass by which to regulate the foreign policy, and it isthe high duty of ‘the United States to reinstate republican cnauintions upon this continent wherever they have been over- turned, and the nation shonld assert this doc- trine as soon as its authority is vindicated by the overthrow of the rebellion.
