SUNF SIGHTHILL,- Of 34 St, Marks Place, New York, aathor of & “Popular Treatise on Deafness,” ~Letiers on Catarrb,” &e, &c., will visit WASHINGTON professionally, and will be at she “ Esstrt House for ove week, from Monday, February 20th, until Saturday evening, March sth, when be can be consulted on Deniness, Catarrh, And all the various diseases of the Eer, Throat, and Sir Passages: Dr. L. is induced go make this yialt on ac- count of nemerons applications for treatment ar | from parties reciding in Washington who are | unable to come to New York for the indispen- sable personal examination. The practice in New York does not suffer any interruption by this visit, as his brother and his assistants are there in constant attendance. ‘The foliowing testimonials, from well-known partirs, are published for the benefit of those who are not acquainted with the doctor’s rep- utation: Letter from Kev. Dr. John Nott, Professor in Union College, Schenectady. Since I firat publicly acknowledged the great benefit which 1 received from the skiilful treat- ment of Dr. Lighthill, in regard to my hearing, letters of inquiry have incessantly poured upon me from #]] parts of the country from parties desiring to learn the particulars of my cxse, and I am indeed surprised at the number of in- dividnals who are affected similar to the man- ner in which I have been, and therejore feel it more and mcrea sacred duty which 1 owe to those eufferers, to direct them to a propor and reliable source to obtain the benefit they so much covet, and which s0 many afilicted ones have hitherto sought in yvaiu, yustas Ihaddone previous to applying to Dr. Lighthill. I bad had from iufancy one very deaf ear whichalways discharged moreor less offensive matter, and wae the source of tha greatestan- noyance, and discomfort tome. Last year the other ear also became diseased, and both ears discharged a yellow matier very profuse and highly offensive. My hearing became very much impaired und the discharge produced the greatest debility of body and depression of spirits. l applied io my famiiy physician and other practitioners without deriving any bene- fit, and almost despairea of being restored to health, when providentially, I applied to Doctor Lightbill. Under his treatment my ears began to improve at once and con- tinued to do co, until, in a comparative short time, both eurs were healed, the dis- charge removed, and my hearing restored. At first I feared the cure would not be per- manent, or that the stoppage of a discharge of so long standing might prove detrimental to my general beal:b, a fear which I find a great many entertain in regard tothe removal of dis- charge from the ears. My experience, how- ever, has proved conclusively that my appre- hensions were entirely groundless in both re- spects, for both ears are as Well, and my hear- ing &8 good at present, as the day 1 left eff treatment, and the stoppage of the discharge, instead of proving detrimental to my health, bas given me the highest elasticity and vigor of body, and a flow of spirits not experisaced tor a long time previous. I wish the above statement might serve asa general answer to those interested, but snonld one or the other desire to apply to me person. ally, or by letier, I will cheerfully satisfy all Trasovable demands upon my time. Lavail myself of this opportunity of again publicly expressing my deeply felt gratitude to Dr. Lighthill, whom I esteem asa gentloman and a man of ecience,in whom the highest coa- . fidence may be placed. Joun Norr, From somes Cruikshank, LL. D., Editor N Teacher, Albany, N This se certity that, having been atilicted during the year 1856 with severe an‘ dlmost total deafness, and having tried the ordinary ; macdical and eurgical aid, under the care of those esteemed as eminent practitioners, I was induced at last to put myself under the care of Dr. EF. B. Lighthill. His treatment was brief and successful. I was completely restored, aod the cure is apparently permanent. Ihave all confidence in Dr. L.’s skill and integrity in the diseases he makes specialities.
