Adams, an at- torney at law, made complaint before Jastices Jobnsou and Bates, charging Chauncey Hoor and Mrs. Hoor and James M. Brown with forcibly ejecting hira from his domiocil without legal kolice or process of law. Process was issued yesterday morning. and the Justices repaired io the premises to escertain the facts. Upon each side a large number of witnesses were in attendance. J. H. Bradley, Sr.,- for the defense, proposed to iuvestigate the case in an upper story of the bouse, To this Mr. Thompson, for the complainant objected, on ihe ground that the law required the investi- gation to be had in the premises in dispute—in this case tha lower story. Mr. Thompson's objectionwxe sustained by the Justices, and then Mr. Bradley, for his client, aamutted the forcible ejectment, and proposed to show its justification. —_ . ‘The examination was then transferred to the Office of Justice Johnson. F J. B. Adams, W. H. Seward. D. T. Pierc>, M. E. M. Howell, G. W. Metlar. John T. Birch, Dan’! McCarty and J. P. Kellog were examined for the complainant, and fally proved the forcible ejectment which was al- ready admitted. The witnecses examined for the defense were Dr. J. S. Bangs and J. E. Blake, whose evi- dence went to exonerate Mr. Brown from any participation, and showed him to be a conser. vator of the peace in the affair. After several hours expended in the trial of the case, it was postponed till Monday next, at. six o’clock p. m., ip order to summon Cupt. H B. Todd and other witnesses of importance. Last night, at 6 o'clock, the case was resumed by Justices Johnzon and Bates. Mr. Bradley, for the defence, recalled Mr. Adams, and cross-examined hin. The witness said that two collisions had oc- curred between Mrs. Hoor and himself pre- vious to the 26th November, and befors he ap- pled to Justice Olayton fora warrant.
