Tne refreshment table is very attractive. — CuarcE oF MuRDER.—Yesterday special of- ficer Harrigan, of the Metropolitay police, ie Tested a soldier named Samuel McManus, wo is charged with the murder of a comrade ata post in Maryland some time ago, by striking him on the head with an iron bar. McManus ‘was arrested about seyen miles below Alexan- dria and brought to this city by the officer, and was immediately turned over to th i authorities. One ne McManus has deserted from ments, lastly from the 2d New York, and bears a hard character. The Police have been on the lookout for him for some time. He was kept in the central guardhonse last night, and this morning was turned over to Capt. Scheetz, who will send him to his regiment, in which he will be court-martialed. . several regi- RBI y re ee Forp'’s New THEATER.—Magyie Mitchell's Fa:eweil Benefit.—This evening this accom- plished lady and favorite actress appears for the last time but one, the occasion being her farewell benefit. The play to be given is the inimitable « Fanchon,” a pieco in which MI8s Mitchell is without a peer. The attractive Shadow Dance will be introduced, with all the beautiful melo-dramatic and yocal music. ‘The cast of charaeters includes, besides Miss Mitchell, Mr. Bishop, Mr. Herne, and Mes- dames Chapman and Muzzy, the entire strength of Ford’s talented dramatic combina- tion. To morrow night, last appearance, pos- itively, of Miss Mitchell. pee Roppine A ComRADE.—Night before last, three colored teamsters, Anthony Sanders, John T. Parker and Henry Thomas, attached to a wagon train at the Nineteenth street park, went out on aspree, and when they returned some of the party plundered their comrades ‘who were asl2ep in the tent, and one of the sleepers, Axom Hall, lost twenty dollars. Offi- cer Stuard was informed of the circumstances, and arrested the three men yesterday, who were taken before Justice Drury, when it ap- peared that Thomas was the guilty party, and he was committed to jail. ——>___ STEALING A MULE.—Yesterday morning, John Veal, James Porter and James Davis ‘Weul to & wagon park on Twenty-first street, and while the latier engaged the watchman with a bottle of whisky, a mule was taken off. as is charged by the other parties. The police of the First Ward were informed of the facts, and Officers Beall and Hurdle went in pursuit of them, and sueceeded in arresting them, but the mule was dot recovered.
