CHARGE oF PICKING A PockeT.—Last Wed- nesday night a masked ball came off at Na- thans’ Assembly Rooms,on Twelfth, near C street. Among the company were a number of “young fellers,” one ot whom, Thos. Coyle, stretched himself upon'a bench and went to sleep. Another, named John Benjamin, wenti to him, and representing himself as his friend to persons Arend, took from his pockets about 6 in money, & pawnbroker’s ticket, and a pass toand from Alexandria. After the conclusion of the ball, Coyle was aroused, and left the room. Meeting officers Parker and Voss ten minutes afterward, he complained that he had been robbed. Voss remembered: the circum- stance of Benjamin taking the papers and money from Coyle, and told Parker. Parker ‘went to the house ot Molly Miller, corner of Eleventh and C streets, and found Benjamin in bed with a eet pamed Mary Williams, who } had also been &} njaminacknowl- edged the taking of they Mode: book from Coyle, but says that subsequently he got to drinking, and was decoyed intoalumber yard, and there ‘was choked and robbed. Forty dollars in money was taken froma box in which it bad been hid, but a gold medal presented to Mr. Stanley, by the Odd Enllows, wes left. The family were asleep at the time, and think that | chloroform must have been used, as from the appearance of things the thieyes must have been engaged for an hour or more in their search for the money. — A Cask ror THE DocTors.—‘‘An American ot African descent” was born at the Contra- band camp at Arlington Wednesday night pos- sessed of a luxuriant growth of hair and a Fall set of teeth. It ie said that the mother-saw Davenport's rendition of Richard the Third on Tuesday night; and it will be remembered that the hump-backed tyrant in that play lays claim to having been endowed at birth with teeth and extensive capillary substance.
