It will be performed to-night again. Forp’s THEATRE.— Notwithstanding the new ghostly attractions at the other prominent pisces of amusement in this city, the « Naiad ueen,” a8 performed at Ford’s New Theatre, roved as usual a source of attraction, and a jarge audience attended its representation. It will be performed to-night again, and it should be remarked by all that the time allotted for its representation is fast drawing to a close. CANTERBURY was crammed and jammed last night. Beiore nine o'clock it was found neces- fary to refuce tosell any more orchestra tickets, and by nine o’clock standing room was at a prem ission all over the house, colered gallery and all. «The Ghost” sppesred, and willap- pea: to-night again in the fine drama + Shades of Death.” But “the Ghost” wasnot the only Attraction, for the friends of Millie Fowler turned out en masse to receive her. The hour appointed for the sane iia having arrived and the meeting not being calied to order, those present manifested their impa- tience by stamping, &c.; which brought up 0. E. Lathrop, Esq., chairman of the committee ap- pointed at a previous meeting, who stated that the committee were in session,[ata table near the plattorm—Aep.,j and begged that those present ‘would be patient—that as soon as the committee had concluded their deliberations the meeting would be organized. Atabouts o’clock the meeting was called to order by Samuel Pearson, Esq. He stated that the committee had had great difficulty in settling upon some plan—bnt there ‘was no doubt of the feasibility ot the design. He suggested_compromise and forbearance. ‘We were all Union men-and could afford to do s0. A voice.—Compromise on dollars and cents, but don’t compromise principles. The Chair concluded by announcing the re- port of the committee in order. After some delay, the chairman of the com- Mittee arose and said he offered as an apology Zor the seeming tardiness of those he repre- sented that they had had considerable oi an elephant on hand, and had had but little time for deliberation. There was not perfect una- nimity with the committee, but a report nad been agreed upon. Mr. Lathrop here read the report, which was & constitution for the government ot the organ- ization. _ It provides for the payment of a President, who is to be the general supervisor, and of a Secretary. All funds to be placed in some a@ate bank, and to be drawn by a check signed by President and Treasurer. 1t omits dealers trom its benefits, not allowing them member- ship—confines purchasers tu actual members of the Association, and makes a distinction in favor of the wholesale purchasers. Finally, it provides that the amount of stock by sub- scription of $10 each may be increased 4s cir- cumstances may make politic. In the debate on the constitution— Capt. Tuttle offered an amendment that no member be allowed to purchase more than one #hare of the stock of the association until the Ast of Nov., 1563; which was adopted. Mr. Scott, in some humorous remarks, in re- Sponse to an inquiry where the profit was to come from, said in buying cheaper and only in this way. He who came among them to make a regular percentage upon his invest- ment would find himself disappointed. Per- centage was the curse of this city and of the world, and he wanted no man in the associa- tion who wanted his percentage. [Applause.) Mr. Snowcraft offered an article, which was accepted, prohibiting all but actual consumers trom taking shares. A motion that when the meeting adjourn it Adjourn to meet again on Wednesday night next, tor the purpose of considering the con- stitution as a whole, gave rise to considerable discussion and disorder. The chairman ot the committee insisted upon the vote being taken now, which proposition ‘was strenuously opposed, on the plea that fyr- ther time was necessary to consider it, in order to amend it necessary. The chairman of the committee asked if the meeting had been fooling. They had already ‘voted on the constitution, and all that was left them now was to receive or reject it as a whole—it could not be amended. He didn’t intend to be made a fool of. [Said with con- eiderable warmth.) Amid much disorder, the president decided | adyersely to the chairman of the commitice, und the meeting adjourned without acting on the constitution as a whole. >_— CHARGE OF SWINDLING.—On Saturday, de- tective Burry arrested F. It will no doubt be with regret that of this play. The pressure of other engage- ments, which canuot be postponed, has in- duced this step on the part of Mr. Ford. Judg- ing from the excellence of the house last eve- ning, andin face of the “Ghost” novelty at every place of amusement in town, we should judge that the piece would continue in favor for many weeks tocome. The usual matinee, and last of the Naiad Queen, comes off on Saturday. Verbum sat. ms Famity Ficut.—Yesterday morning, officer Grant was called to arrest two women, both married—Ellen McNamar and EmmaO'Toole— tor fighting. They were arrested at a house on Thirteen-and-a-half, between C and D streets. The officer found one of the women, with an infant in her arms, covered with blood, which flowed from her own wounds, and enough of long black hair was lying on the floor to fill the officer’s hat. They were taken to the station and kept till sober. They are sisters, and the fight originated in a dispute about the amount ot work each had performed. Justice Clayton fined each $1.94, the husband of one paying the fines of both. —~—+>__.
