Tux Great Prizk Ficut—Coburn FVieto- rious—McCool Completely Used Up.—The great rize fight between Joe Coburn and Mike PeCool, ef Cincinnati, came off yesterday at Charlestown, in Cecil county, six miles south of the Susq achanna river, and near to the line of the Philadelphia and Baltimore railroad. The fancy began to assemble early in the morning, and the ground was staked off about thirty feet from the shore of Northeast river. It was expected that the fight would take place between daybreak and sunrise, but Coburn was delayed at Hayre-de-Grace, and did not reach the ground until twelve o’clock, when all the preliminaries were settled, and at six minutes past one the contestants stepped into the ring, and after hand shaking and further betting, commenced the combat in presence of a crowd of sports from all parts of the country, yari- @u-ly estimated at from three to five thousand. McCool was some twenty-four pounds heavier than his antagonist, but Coburn was the favorite. ‘The latter drew the first blood, and that at the first round, and altbough he was several times thrown heavily to the ground by McCool, yet from his remarkable activity and the scientific manner in which he conducted himself it was evident from the first that he would be the victor, blows fairly and with tremendons effect in the face of his antagonist, without ever having received a blow in the face, and at the sixth round he claimed the first knock down. McCool stood up well until the sixty-third Tound, when it became evident that he was nearly exhausted from the loss of blood and the severe punishment he had received. Four more rounds were fought, and at the sixty-eighth McCool failed to come to time, and Coburn was deciared the victor, and the champion of the American prize ring. McCool was dreadfully punished. His face ‘was beaten to a jelly, and his head swelled to twice its usual size. He was taken from the ground completely disabled, and his wounds ‘were washed and dressed. Some three hours after the fight he was placed in a wagon in an aimost lifeless condition, and conveyed to Charlestown, Md., where he now remains. Coburn was comparatively unharmed, and walked off as unconcernedly as though nothing had happened. The eporting men who left this city for the acene of conflict returned last evening.
