S. gunboat Tioga, on the 20th instant, eaptured the English steamer Pearl. She is one of the boats purchased by (the rebels io iron built, and side-wheeled. She had on board a quantity of peajackets. The steamer O-torora, on the 15th inetant, captured the English sloop Braye, nias tons burden, from Nassau, with one hundred and ten sacks salt, three bales sponges, &c. A UNION VICTORY IN NORTH CAROLINA Thi forenoon, we hear, dispatches were re- ceived from Gen. Dix, at Fortress Monroe, stating that yesterday Gen. Peck's torce, portion of it, had an engagement with the op- posing rebel furcé under Pryor, near the Black- water river, in North Carolina, resulting in the rout and retr®at of the rebels, who had been | crash driven six milcve when the intelligence lef our victorious and pursuing troops.
