The convalescents and pareled Alexandria were also provided with a suilable dinner. both camps contain about 15,000 men. In Camp Parole there are tive wards, the en- trance to each of which was decorated with evergreens and had arches sprung across. The | beds in the hospital were decorated with flow- ers. A table, spread with a white cloth and with crockery, was set under 3 neatly-sarrrnged bower, at which the officers were seated to par- take of the dinner provided. The provisions m sent down the day he- fore, and were distributed in quantitive to the inmates of the different tonta, who prepared their own dinners. All were amply supplied with turkeys, chickens, roasts, &c. The sur- geon in charge occupied the head of the table, | and after # blessing had heen acked by the chaplain, the officers and visitors did fuil jus- ; tice to the good things set before them. At this camp the dinner was nol quite so successful ax at Camp Parole, owing to the fuct of the non-arrival of the artivics provided by Mrs. Smith until a lste hour. Lata in the evening, however, the soldiers were supplied with turkeys, chickens, vegetabler, and other edibles, which had been proyided. It was not thought advisable to sta table, owing to the severe illness of Col. Belknap, the command. ant of the camp, &s it was feared the noise and confusion mude by the soldiers would have a bad effect upon him. ; ~ DINSHER AT THE CONTRABAND CAMP.
