~ ee mem LUCAL NEWS. AMUSEMENTS TO-NIGHT. Grover’s THEATER.—Miss Western has en- tered upon the third week of her enzagement at Grover's, and it promises to be as successful as those which have eded it. The engage. ment of Mr. L. P. Barrett is also continued. They doth appear to-night in the fine play of “Oliver Twist,” dramatized from Dick»ns novel of that name—Miss We-tern as “Nan- ey Syke tarrett as © Fagan,” Setchell as «Rumb Sophie Gimber 9s “Oliver Twist.” Forp's Torater.—Mr. and Miss Couldock | mad very fayorsble impression Inet night, Thei ing wos all that could be desired, and the public may now look forward to a short Season of most excellent entertainments. They appear to-nicht sgain—and for the last time — in the “Willow Copse.” All the company are in the east. The comie farce, « To Oplige Ben- son,” ¥ ith Bishop in the leading role, concludes the entertainment. WashinoTos THMATER.—“The French Spy” presented new attractions last evening, owing to the splendid mnnner in which the beautiful Cubsas sustained the parts assigned her. Mer dances were the very «mbodiment of grace and elegance. Her performances tend to remind one of the days when Fanny Elisler was queen of Terpsichcrean artists. The bill for to-night includes «The French Spy,” and “Pocahontas” —Chanirau, Davenport, and Miss Brown ap- pearing. CANTERBULY HALL.—An entirely new bill, With the ex: jon of the “Gipsey's Lay,"— {ang indeed that always reveals new beauties) —wks performed Inst night. The new stars shared with the old favorites the plandiis of the ardience, and were Toctfcronshy encored. A good bill to-night, including “Gi "s Lay,” and the Iauehsbie farce of the « Soldier's ee. tora.” Both Julia Mortimer and Kate Pen- Royer appear. Cremwonne Crrcvs,—Nixon offers a decided Rovelty this evening, by producing 2 splendid Bistorical hippo-dramatic spectacle entitled «The Fietd of the Cloth of Gold,” which requires at its presentation the entire force of the circus and temime troupe. Such novel- ties always take. and therefore we opine that Be mammoth pavilion will be crowded on the Presentation of this piece, as it embraces some wery exciting scenes of ancient times, as the tilt and tourney. FRANKLIN HALL.—Devotees of Terpsichore should note the fact that the Stewart Holland Club give their tenth grand ball this evening, at Franklin Hall. The parties given by this club heretofore have been very pleasant. Opp FetLows’ Hatt.—Ball to-night by the Journeymen Stonecutters. A good opportuni © enjoy @ fine dance and partake of a weli- prepared supper. pi ererean Covuxcit Proczgpin+s, Nov. 10.—Board of Aldermen.—The chair presented a communica- tion from the Mayor, announcing, among othe!
