We farther inform the R-pudlican that it is alse im error in asserting that we adyocate inaction by the army of the Potomac. Our argument was to show the danger of a general mtoyement in that quarter before the expected fail raine shall have rendered the Potomac’s fords unfordable: and, next, that when 1 move- ment takes piace, it shall look to active opera- tions on the part of our army under McClean elsewhere than between and in the midstof the spurs of the Bine Ridge and Alleganies, where nething is to be gained by any victories that may possibly be obtained there: which, it obtained, musi cost far more than they can come to.
