IMPORTANT FROM THE GULF. An Expedition Expected to Sail at Once. The United States steam gunboat Dacotah one of the vessels of the regular navy, arrived at New York on Thursday from the Gulf. She is eight days from Key West. Admiral Dupont wasexpected back from the North with instructions to proceed on a hosiile demonstration at once. It was thought that Mobile and Charleston would be attacked on his return. ‘The mortar fleet at Pensacola had received sailing orders. ll the vessels belonging to it, which had arrived, were heavily armed. The fever was rapidly disappearing frem the squadron, and few deaths had recently oceur- red. Quite a number of seamen, landsmen, und marines had been buried from the different ships. ‘Accounts had been received in a roundabout Way by some of the men-of-war from Savannah. Beauregard had been there, but had left. He promised the Georgians that four iron-clad re- bel vessels would be before Savannah in less than a fortnight. The steamer Blanche had escaped from our eruisers, and the Dacotah and Montg: ry were said to be inquired after by Spanish vessels of war for chasing the craft into Span- ish waters. The Blanche was fitted out in England. Affair: ville. Va. {Correspondence of the Philadelphia Ingnirer.j CENTREVILLE, Oct. 23.—Nothing of great mo- ment is transpiring here.
