It appears that a loaded gun had been left in the store, which was picked up by a boy named George Milier to place behind the counter, aud in removing it the load was discharged by the cock striking against the counter, which took eect in the head of the boy, blowing off one side of his face and skull, scattering his brains on the floor, and killing him instantly.
