Communications on the A- ject of sald orders may be addressed to him at the War Department, Washington. — + GOVERNMENT SALE OF HORSES, ETC. The sale of condemned horses, &c., at the Government corral, on Thursday and yesterday, by Messrs. W. L. Wall & Co., was largely attended, and the bidding on some of the animals was quite spirited. One hundred and thirty-five horses were sold, at prices ranging from one to fifty-six dollars; fourteen mules from two to seventy dollars; and forty-three colts from seven to ten dollars each. The proceeds of the sale amounted to over two thousand dollars, and the sale, considering the class of animals put up, is considered a very successful one. ee A COMPLIMENT. Col. Cluseret, of the Army of the Shenandoah) bas sent to Paris along letter, which appears in the Siecle, and eulogizes the American soldiers in the highest terms. He says that they possess every quality of the French soldier, and two other qualities besides—a patience and 2 resigna- tion beyond all belief. He speaks of their long marches without food, and almost barefoot, as something unparalleled in military history. Gia ADMINISTERING THE OATH. The authorities, it is said, are considering the propriety of administering the oath of allegiance to ail persons in the District who have not taken it, and there is reason to believe that this plen will be adopted to drive out secession sympa- thizers and agents who are doing @ great deal of barm. Spirit ef the Morning Press. The Intelligencer deplores the existence in the country of -o many malcontents, who, instead of giving the President all the support in their power, do nothing but bring rallings and accusa- tions against him for not issuing certain procla- mations. ‘The Repudlican argues that there is no danger Whatever of immediate Intervention by Great Britain, and that all tendencies to intervention may be counteracted by arousing “ the anti- slavery sentiment of the British people.” +8 Brapy's ALsvM GaLteny.—We have before us some war scenes, of surpassing spirit and excel- lence, belonging to the renowned collection known as the “‘ Bredy Album Gallery.”’ Brady’s name seems bound to come uppermost in any branch of the photographic art; and just now everybody is going to his Gallery to see these photographic views cf all scenes and points of interest belonging to the campaigning in Vir- ginia. The Brady corps of photographers have accompanied the army to Manassas, Fortress Monroe, Yorktown, the Pamunkey, the Chicka- hominy, the James river ; and the fruits of their inbor, attained at no little peril and cost, may now be obtained at a trifling expense, by these ‘wishing to secure this pictorial history of the war.
