Gen. Burnside, with part of bis army, bes join- ed Gen. McClellan. He had prepared for an in- land advance from Newbern, which wea to coim- mence on Tuesday, the Ist instant, when news of the stralt of the Potomac army came, accompa- nied by orders for bim to move forward a part of bis force to Virginia. By next moriting his trooys were embarked and steaming down the Neuse river, whenghe received a dispatch stating that McClellan was in Richmond and the enemy in filght in all directions.
