COLLEY, SECOND EDITION. THREE O'CLOCK, P. mM. The Official Dispatch Announcing the Great Victory at Fort Donelson ! Caio, Feb. 17, 1862.—Major General McCisl- tan :—The Union Flag floats over Fort Donelson The Carondelet, Capt. Walker, brings the glo- rious intelligence’ The fort surrendered at 9 o'clock yesterday (Sun- day) morning. Generals Jobnson (A. Sidney) and Buckner and fifteen thousand (15,000) pris- oners and a large amount of materie! of war, are the trophies of victory. Loss heavy on both sides Floyd, the thief, stole away, during the night previous, with five thousand men, and is de- nounced by the rebels as a traitor I am happy to inform you that Flag Officer Foote, though suffering with bis foot, with the noble spirit characteristic of our navy, notwith- standing his disability, will take up immediately two gunboats, and with the eight mortar boats which he will overtake, will make an immediate attack on Clarksville, if the stage of water will permit. We are now firing a national salute from Fort Cairo, Gen. Grant’s late post, in honor of the glo- rious achievement Gro. W. Cuticm, Brig. Gen Vol. and U.S. A., and Chief of Stait and Engineers Still a Third Great Union Victory Heard from To-day! GEN. CURTIS PURSUES PRICE, SCAT- TERING HIS ARMY, AND MAKES MORE PRISONERS THAN HE CAN TAKE CARE OF" This forenoon, tion. Halleck telegraphed to Gen. McClellan the gratifying news that Gen Curtis’ pursuit of Price's fleeing army has so far been eminently successful. He had up to yes- terday captured one Colonel, one Lieut. Colonel, two Captains, and more privates, &c., than he could by any possibility just then take due caie of. This means, evidently, that he bax suc- ceeded in breaking up Price’s army. A DESERTER CavGuT Charles Moore deserted from the steamer Pied- montese in the lower Potomac a day or two since in a sma'l boat, and had nearly succeeded in get- ting safely into Secessia, when be was captured by the Union pickets and turned over to Lieut Bodger of the Anacostia THE TROPHIES. This morning a dozen different secesh flags were received al the War Department per Ad- ams & Co.'s Express. They are trophies of ovr victories at Mill Spring and Fort Henry. Mitchell, to save, if possible, the railrozd turnpike aud bridges on Big Barron river. They had, bowever, been de- stroyed when Mitchell reached the banks of the river. The brigades of Breckinridge and Hindman were till Thureday evening at Woodland Station. The rebels ieft notbing at Bowting Green ex- cept a few old wagons. A part of the town isre- ported to be burnt It ts believed there are no rebel forces now in Kentucky east of the direct rond from Bowling Green via Franklin to Nashville Breckinridge’s 2nd Hindman’s brigades have fallen back on Russelyilie, where Buckner’s and Floyd’s brigedes have been stationed for some time. Hardee and Jobuston were also believed to be at that point Friday. It is presumed that, with the exception of the above brigades, the whole rebel army has been moved to Fort Donelson and Clarksville What movement may have been made by the rebel forces since Thursday can only be conjec- tured; but the probabilities are that they have concentrated their whole force on the Cumber- land. If, however, they have not done so, the divisions of Nelson and Mitchell will be ample to cope with all they may have between Bowling Green and Nashville. {t is believed the divisions of McCook aud Thomas embarked at the mouth of Salt river on steamers for the Cumberland on Saturday night or yesterday. The troops that have been in camp of instruc- tion at Bardstown, were 2t Louisville yesterday, embarking for the Cumberland. Three Indiana regiments and @ battery of artillery leave New Albany to-day. The aggregate of these reinforce- ments is perbaps forty thousand Buell, we understand, goes with McCook’s di- vision to take command in person on the Cum- berland, where our forces will by to-morrow number 80,000. While be presses the enemy on the Cumberland with his tremendous force, thei, flank and rear are pressed by heavy divisions under Mitchell and Nelson. Si.ce writing the above, we learn that ten regiments in the Ohio camps are ordered at once to the Cumberland. Te Sealers THE VERY LATEST. FURTHER OF THE CAPTURE OF FORT DONELSON.
