Under this staircase is Sah ies he to Hilburn’s Metropolitan Hotel cigar store; and another exit from res- taurant leads us to a fine billiard room. which also communicates with the bar by a window. W. Miller, soldier, indicted for the larceny of a horse, valued at $125, from Traxton D Beale, on the 12th of November last, was found guilty, and sentenced by Judge Crawford to two and six months confine- ment in the penitentiary. (Rhens divulged to the jailors the plot for the escape of prisoners from the county jail, noticed in Star, and was a tive in frustating the attempt. His conduct has been good since his arrest, and he bas manifested signs of sincere repentance for his wrongdoing.
